Australian Vanadium gains water licence for processing plant near major port in Western Australia
Australian Vanadium Ltd (ASX:AVL, OTCQB:ATVVF) has received approval for a groundwater extraction licence to service its proposed vanadium processing plant near the port city of Geraldton in Western Australia.
The WA Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) awarded AVL a 1.2 gigalitre-per-annum licence for industrial processing purposes – initially granted for 10 years, with the option to complete a standard renewal process after that period.
Importantly, the swift granting of the licence is a strong indication of local and state government support for AVL’s integrated supply chain ambitions, which will offer employment opportunities in the Mid-West region of WA.
Key step toward development
“Securing water for the processing plant is a key step forward in the company’s work to bring the Australian Vanadium Project into production,” Australian Vanadium CEO Graham Arvidson said.
“I would like to thank the AVL team, our external consultants and the team at DWER for the detailed and diligent work undertaken, culminating in the successful approval of our water licence.”
AVL intends to complete early manufacturing processes of crushing, milling and beneficiation of vanadium-bearing magnetite ore directly at its mine site near Meekatharra, before transporting the resulting concentrate to the proposed processing plant, where final refinement will take place.
