Green Technology Metals eyes maiden Root Bay resource after more high-grade lithium results
Green Technology Metals Ltd (ASX:GT1) says there is “significant potential” for the Root Lithium Project’s Root Bay prospect in Ontario, Canada, to host a maiden mineral resource estimate, having received all remaining assay results from a recent round of drilling.
GT1 is keen to add the Root Bay resource to its existing lithium resource base, which currently sits at a combined 14.4 million tonnes at 1.03% lithium across the company’s held tenure.
“Root Bay has returned some of the highest-grade results from any of our projects to date with results now indicating significant potential for a maiden mineral resource estimate from the initial 37-hole diamond drill program,” Green Technology Metals CEO Luke Cox said.
“We are now working on determining how big the resource potential is at the prospect area and look forward to sharing the results.
“Due to the success of the maiden drilling program, we will now commence infill drilling at Root Bay earlier than planned with two drill rigs mobilised to the project area, ready to commence next week, which will run parallel to the large-scale field exploration program that is currently underway at Root.”
Exploration focus moving forward
GT1 has so far identified 13 stacked lithium-bearing pegmatites along an initial 1.3-kilometre trend and has drilled them to depths of 200 metres.
The company says its latest round of results “demonstrate the high-grade quality of the pegmatites”, with assays including:
- 16.8 metres at 1.57% lithium from 152.4 metres;
- 16.5 metres at 1.55% lithium from 254.6 metres;
- 15.4 metres at 1.65% lithium from 37.1 metres;
- 7.8 metres at 1.61% lithium from 216.9 metres;
- 5.9 metres at 1.59% lithium from 5.6 metres; and
- 5.9 metres at 1.46% lithium from 257.7 metres.
To that end, GT1 has mobilised two diamond drilling rigs to begin infill drilling beginning June 6.
