Surefire Resources makes sweet music with new Marshall and Fender prospects at Yidby Gold Project

Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) has added two new prospects - Marshall and Fender - to the fold at its Yidby Gold Project in WA’s Mid-West.

The discoveries were made after the explorer reviewed original and composite assays from its recent 23-hole reverse circulation drill program, covering more than 2,700 metres.

Surefire’s program was designed to take a closer look at the previously untested Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) gold anomalies across the Yidby property, and the review is already paying dividends.

The first new prospect, known as Marshall, lies 150 metres west of the Yidby gold deposit. Here, Surefire has uncovered wide gold intersections in a type of metamorphic rock known as schist.

The second new target, dubbed the Fender zone, lies 400 metres to the northwest. Again, Surefire was able to identify wide gold hits - this time in quartz felsic porphyries.

What now?

Surefire has a follow-up drilling campaign planned for the Yidby project that combines exploration and development.

For example, diamond drilling is now underway across the property, executing an oriented 6-hole, 800-metre program.

Through the campaign, Surefire hopes to better understand the structural elements and lithologies that underpin the Yidby deposit’s mineralisation.

While it’s still on a journey of discovery, the company does know the deposit hosts no surface outcrop, and it’s hidden beneath 10 to 25 metres of transported overburden.

Once it analyses core from the diamond drilling program, Surefire plans to take to the soil at the newfound Marshall and Fender targets, where it can test the strike length and conduct infill drilling.

In the meantime, the explorer is also planning to follow up other untested MMI anomalies with more reverse circulation drilling.

More broadly, an untested 900 metres of strike exists between the Yidby deposit and the Money MMI gold anomaly has caught the company’s eye.

As such, planning is underway for broad-spaced, along-strike, top-to-tail drilling across Yidby's projected mineralised zones.

Yidby Gold Project is well located on the Great Northern Highway, 40 kilometres southwest of Paynes Find and in the southern portion of the Yalgoo-Singleton Greenstone Belt, part of the mid to late-Archaean Youanmi Terrane.
