AngloGold Ashanti (ASX:AGG) has announced it is moving its primary stock market listing from Johannesburg to New York and setting up its main domicile in the UK.
Its exit from South Africa completes a process that saw it offload its last mine in the country in 2020 to focus on operations in other parts of Africa, Australia, and the Americas.
In addition to the new primary listing, AngloGold Ashanti will maintain a secondary listing in Johannesburg, alongside another in Ghana.
Despite predictions of a potential London quote, the group has opted to tap into what it refers to as "the world's deepest pools of capital".
The company noted that its existing secondary listing on Wall Street already accounts for roughly two-thirds of its shares' daily liquidity.
AngloGold said it expects to have made the transition by the third quarter.
