Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Basic Resources and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 13.86% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.115 at the close. Greek Organisation of Football Prognostics SA (AT:OPAr) added 6.00% or 0.360 points to end at 6.360 and Grivalia Properties REIC (AT:GRIr) was up 3.24% or 0.22 points to 7.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr), which lost 6.67% or 0.008 points to trade at 0.112 in late trade. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) declined 6.12% or 0.0120 points to end at 0.1770 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) shed 5.49% or 0.010 points to 0.172.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 46 to 44 and 19 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.62% or 8.20 to $1326.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.45% or 1.17 to hit $49.02 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.40% or 1.18 to trade at $50.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.42% to 1.1112, while EUR/GBP fell 0.82% to 0.8225.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.45% at 95.76.
