Investing.com – Singapore stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Real Estate Holdings & Development and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Singapore, the Singapore Straits Time added 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the Singapore Straits Time were Singapore Airlines Ltd (SIN:SIAL), which rose 1.19% or 0.13 points to trade at 11.09 at the close. Meanwhile, Olam International Limited (SIN:OLAM) added 1.13% or 0.020 points to end at 1.795 and Genting Singapore Plc (SIN:GENS) was up 1.12% or 0.010 points to 0.900 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jardine Cycle & Carriage Ltd (SIN:JCYC), which fell 1.50% or 0.48 points to trade at 31.52 at the close. Golden Agri-Resources Ltd (SIN:GAGR) declined 1.30% or 0.005 points to end at 0.380 and Singtel (SIN:STEL) was down 1.14% or 0.05 points to 4.32.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Singapore Stock Exchange by 228 to 219 and 36 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.96% or 1.02 to $51.17 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.70% or 0.99 to hit $57.16 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.23% or 2.70 to trade at $1152.70 a troy ounce.
USD/SGD was up 0.27% to 1.3605, while EUR/SGD rose 0.50% to 1.5005.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 96.78.
