Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.55% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Gas Natural (MC:GAS), which rose 1.61% or 0.325 points to trade at 20.540 at the close. Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) added 1.60% or 0.17 points to end at 10.48 and Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX) was up 1.54% or 0.23 points to 15.47 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 1.13% or 0.090 points to trade at 7.881 in late trade. Banco Popular (MC:POP) declined 1.09% or 0.010 points to end at 0.910 and Repsol (MC:REP) shed 0.86% or 0.125 points to 14.475.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 94 to 81 and 13 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.01% or 0.10 to $1244.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.22% or 0.11 to hit $50.46 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.40% or 0.21 to trade at $53.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.15% to 1.0692, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.8530.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 100.22.
