Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Information Technology, Plantations and Palm Oil sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.10% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL), which rose 33.33% or 0.200 points to trade at 0.800 at the close. EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR) added 18.45% or 225.80 points to end at 1449.80 and Amana Takaful Life Ltd (CM:ANTK) was up 18.18% or 0.20 points to 1.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Namunukula Plantations PLC (CM:NAMU), which lost 10.76% or 9.30 points to trade at 77.10 in late trade. Maskeliya Plantations PLC (CM:MASK) declined 10.00% or 0.80 points to end at 7.20 and Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) shed 9.09% or 0.100 points to 1.000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 96 to 82 and 53 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.83% or 0.92 to $49.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.66% or 0.88 to hit $52.23 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.38% or 4.55 to trade at $1204.85 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.05% to 183.950, while USD/LKR rose 0.05% to 151.390.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 102.07.
