Strickland Metals Ltd (ASX:STK) has ended its 2022 drilling campaign with the discovery of a second high-grade gold system towards the west of the Millrose main structure in the world-renowned Yandal Greenstone Belt of Western Australia.

Assays from reverse circulation (RC) drilling at Millrose West returned up to 8.7 g/t gold from shallow depths, with mineralisation open along strike in multiple directions.

Strong results were also received from Millrose North, Millrose Central and the Wanamaker lodes, further underscoring the project’s potential over a very large strike area.

These assays will feed into an updated mineral resource to be released in the first half of 2023.

Enormously successful campaign

“Our 2022 drilling campaign at Millrose has been enormously successful in delineating new zones of mineralisation, discovering significantly more oxide gold closer to surface and achieving major extensions to the existing primary mineralised envelopes,” chief executive officer Andrew Bray said.

“Of particular excitement towards the end of the drilling campaign, Strickland drilled further to the west of the main Millrose structure and intersected a secondary shear structure, hosted within an entirely separate stratigraphic package.

“Historically this area had only been subject to shallow aircore drilling, with little understanding of the structural controls on mineralisation, and drilling having been too shallow to have intersected the structure.

“Overall, this new western shear structure represents a highly compelling exploration target. Most significantly, it demonstrates the potential for a secondary ‘look-a-like’ Millrose analogue to the west.”

Untested structure

Drilling at Millrose West confirms a separate, sub-parallel structure 200 metres from the main Millrose structure.

It is hosted within an entirely distinct stratigraphic package, highlighting the potential for a secondary, high-grade system analogous to Millrose.

Historically, work has been limited to shallow aircore holes, with mineralisation open to both the north and south over 5 kilometres.

Two holes drilled here by STK last year returned 8.7 g/t gold over 5 metres from 89 metres within a broader intersection of 19 metres at 2.9 g/t gold from 76 metres. Another hole hit 13 metres at 2.1 g/t gold from 83 metres.

More high-grade hits

Meanwhile, Millrose North, Millrose Central and Wanamaker continued to deliver high-grade gold results which also showed mineralisation is open at depth across all three lodes.

Below are some of the highlights:

Millrose Central

  • 14 metres at 3.0 g/t gold from 79 metres within a broader 32 metres at 1.8 g/t from 66 metres;
  • 12 metres at 3.3 g/t from 158 metres;
  • 6 metres at 3.8 g/t from 94 metres within a broader 40 metres at 1.1 g/t from 87 metres; and
  • 14 metres at 1.5 g/t from 171 metres.
Millrose North

  • 5 metres at 8.0 g/t gold from 101 metres;
  • 6 metres at 6.4 g/t from 56 metres;
  • 6.4 metres at 3.1 g/t from 64.6 metres; and
  • 9 metres at 2.0 g/t from 39 metres and 21 metres at 2.0 g/t from 168 metres.
Wanamaker

  • 6.7 metres at 4.6 g/t gold from 130.3 metres;
  • 4 metres at 2.9 g/t from 88 metres;
  • 21 metres at 2.2 g/t from 95 metres;
  • 7 metres at 2.3 g/t from 56 metres; and
  • 12 metres at 1.6 g/t from 83 metres.
Vast potential

Strickland controls more than 100 kilometres of strike along the prodigious Yandal Greenstone Belt, the vast majority of which has not been explored.

The tenements contain a total gold mineral resource of 603,000 ounces of gold with strong potential for this to grow.

Planning is underway for 2023 drilling campaigns at the flagship Millrose Project.
