Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Iron & Steel, Chemicals and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ace Pillar (TW:8374), which rose 9.95% or 1.85 points to trade at 20.45 at the close. Phihong (TW:2457) added 9.95% or 1.00 points to end at 11.05 and K Laser (TW:2461) was up 9.94% or 1.80 points to 19.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 9.26% or 0.10 points to trade at 0.98 in late trade. Kindom Constr (TW:2520) declined 5.36% or 1.15 points to end at 20.30 and Getac Tech (TW:3005) shed 5.31% or 2.00 points to 35.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 378 to 338 and 154 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.32% or 0.17 to $52.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.22% or 0.12 to hit $54.80 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.49% or 5.65 to trade at $1137.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.15% to 32.016, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2162.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 103.33.
