Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Semiconductor and Information Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Advanced Optoelectronic Technology Inc (TW:3437), which rose 9.92% or 3.30 points to trade at 36.55 at the close. Epileds Technologies Inc (TW:4956) added 9.90% or 2.00 points to end at 22.20 and Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432) was up 9.72% or 1.20 points to 13.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Universal Cement Corp (TW:1104), which lost 4.42% or 1.10 points to trade at 23.80 in late trade. Yoko International Corp (TW:6131) declined 4.19% or 0.70 points to end at 16.00 and Lung Hwa Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2424) shed 4.01% or 1.30 points to 31.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 539 to 228 and 111 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.13% or 0.06 to $44.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.28% or 0.13 to hit $47.05 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.10% or 1.28 to trade at $1255.88 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.42% to 30.371, while TWD/CNY rose 0.13% to 0.2242.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 97.45.
