Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Metals, Transport and Textile & Leather sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 declined 1.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Yazicilar Holding (IS:YAZIC), which rose 3.51% or 0.51 points to trade at 15.05 at the close. Karsan Otomotiv (IS:KARSN) added 3.45% or 0.040 points to end at 1.200 and Ihlas Holding (IS:IHLAS) was up 3.13% or 0.010 points to 0.330 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pegasus (IS:PGSUS), which lost 4.00% or 0.660 points to trade at 15.850 in late trade. Hurriyet Gzt. (IS:HURGZ) declined 3.75% or 0.030 points to end at 0.770 and Tat Konserve (IS:TATGD) shed 3.63% or 0.230 points to 6.110.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 247 to 107 and 50 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 1.20% or 14.55 to $1196.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $53.23 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.04 to trade at $55.40 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 1.53% to 3.8414, while EUR/TRY rose 1.62% to 4.1272.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 100.06.
