Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Real Estate & Construction and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 0.55%, while the ADX General index declined 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 4.62% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.680 at the close. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) added 3.00% or 0.019 points to end at 0.652 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) was up 2.62% or 0.014 points to 0.549 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which lost 3.16% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.840 in late trade. Dubai Parks and Resorts PJSC (DU:DUBA) declined 1.56% or 0.020 points to end at 1.260 and Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) shed 1.42% or 0.020 points to 1.390.
The top performers on the ADX General were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which rose 12.90% to 0.350, Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was up 2.34% to settle at 7.44 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which gained 1.92% to close at 0.530.
The worst performers were Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was down 5.10% to 0.93 in late trade, Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which lost 2.77% to settle at 6.32 and Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which was down 2.36% to 8.70 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 11 to 10 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 8 fell and 8 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 3.09% or 1.11 to $37.00 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 2.53% or 0.96 to hit $38.83 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.27% or 3.30 to trade at $1226.30 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.30% to 4.1685.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 94.87.
