Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR), sorry X, will soon go dark, according to a recent Tweet, sorry X, from commander in chief Elon Musk.
What he has against white backgrounds is unclear, with Musk simply Tweeting, sorry X’ing, that “this platform will soon only have “dark mode”. It is better in every way”.
It was in response to a Tweet, sorry X, from DogeDesigner, an account that seems dedicated to venerating the world’s richest man.
This platform will soon only have “dark mode”. It is better in every way.— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 27, 2023
Following his brief powertrip, he commented: “A lot of people have asked to keep light mode, so we will, but the default will be dark and dim will be deleted.”
Though black is objectively a cool colour, many users with poor eyesight struggle to read white text on black backgrounds.
Browser extensions exist to automatically render websites in lightmode as and when available.
