Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 3.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which rose 13.57% or 1.44 points to trade at 12.05 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 11.12% or 2.83 points to end at 28.28 and Vale SA (SA:VALE5) was up 8.21% or 1.89 points to 24.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Bradesco SA Pref (SA:BBDC4), which lost 8.92% or 2.84 points to trade at 29.01 in late trade. CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) declined 8.84% or 0.80 points to end at 8.25 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) shed 8.67% or 1.310 points to 13.800.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 251 to 160 and 21 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 18.78% to 40.66 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.33% or 16.95 to $1256.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.52% or 0.69 to hit $44.58 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 4.37% or 7.43 to trade at $162.50 .
USD/BRL was up 5.29% to 3.3873, while EUR/BRL rose 5.10% to 3.6895.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 98.81.
