Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Glass, Hotels and Computers & Peripherals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.04% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taimide (TW:3645), which rose 9.95% or 2.90 points to trade at 32.05 at the close. Ace Pillar (TW:8374) added 9.92% or 1.25 points to end at 13.85 and Hannstar Touch (TW:3049) was up 9.89% or 0.71 points to 7.89 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 8.64% or 0.19 points to trade at 2.01 in late trade. Ritek (TW:2349) declined 5.05% or 0.240 points to end at 4.510 and Pihsiang (TW:1729) shed 3.52% or 2.50 points to 68.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 456 to 265 and 129 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.87% or 0.85 to $46.35 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.60% or 0.77 to hit $48.75 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.17% or 2.35 to trade at $1351.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.16% to 31.290, while TWD/CNY rose 0.19% to 0.2136.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 94.86.
