Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Communication and Internet, Trading & Consumer Goods and Hotels sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.04% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Advanced Power (TW:8261), which rose 9.98% or 2.35 points to trade at 25.90 at the close. Solytech (TW:1471) added 9.96% or 0.48 points to end at 5.30 and Inventec Besta (TW:8201) was up 9.73% or 1.25 points to 14.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aopen (TW:3046), which lost 9.97% or 0.57 points to trade at 5.15 in late trade. Eson (TW:5243) declined 6.84% or 3.55 points to end at 48.35 and Genius (TW:3406) shed 5.91% or 14.00 points to 223.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 426 to 354 and 96 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.83% or 0.41 to $48.90 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.66% or 0.34 to hit $51.42 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.34% or 4.15 to trade at $1234.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.20% to 30.473, while TWD/CNY fell 0.22% to 0.2254.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 99.95.
